I\u2019ve been lucky enough to visit the city in every season, and let me tell you, <strong data-start=\"420\" data-end=\"453\">each one offers its own magic<\/strong>. Make sure you have a water bottle with you and hat and sunscreen too. You&#8217;ll want to plan your long walking activities for earlier in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. It&#8217;s brutal, even by Australian summer standards<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1444\" data-end=\"1598\">\n<p data-start=\"1446\" data-end=\"1598\">\u00a0There&#8217;s so much to do &#8211;\u00a0 outdoor movies, concerts in parks, music festivals\u00a0 and rooftop bars packed with locals and tourists alike.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1444\" data-end=\"1598\">The city is crowded with tourists. A lot of the locals leave in Summer but the numbers swell with tourists from all over the world<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul data-start=\"1392\" data-end=\"1666\">\n<li data-start=\"1444\" data-end=\"1598\">Because of the long daylight hours, there\u2019s time to see and do more so you can really jam pack your days<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s a great season to use Ferries as a form of transport!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1668\" data-end=\"1684\">\ud83c\udf9f <strong data-start=\"1671\" data-end=\"1681\">Sports<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1685\" data-end=\"1753\">\n<li data-start=\"1685\" data-end=\"1709\">\n<p data-start=\"1687\" data-end=\"1709\">MLB is in full swing<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1710\" data-end=\"1753\">\n<p data-start=\"1712\" data-end=\"1753\">US Open Tennis (late August\u2013early September)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1855\">\u26a0\ufe0f Be prepared for crowds and bracing yourself for being hot and sweaty after all your walking or standing in lines. Though that doesn&#8217;t sound enticing,\u00a0 the vibe of the city is so electric it&#8217;s worth the sweat.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a great option to escape the Aussie winter, though flights in school holidays will be more expensive so plan ahead as just a few days difference in travelling can save you a bundle.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1855\">\n<p data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1855\">\n<p data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1855\">\n<p data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1855\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/takemetonyc.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Central-Park-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1862\" data-end=\"1901\"><\/h2>\n<h2 data-start=\"1862\" data-end=\"1901\"><\/h2>\n<h2 data-start=\"1862\" data-end=\"1901\"><strong data-start=\"1868\" data-end=\"1899\">\u00a0Fall &#8211; or what we call Autumn (September \u2013 November)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1902\" data-end=\"1937\">Autumn in New York is <i>glorious<\/i><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1939\" data-end=\"2235\">\n<li data-start=\"1939\" data-end=\"2016\">\n<p data-start=\"1941\" data-end=\"2016\">The leaves change, turning the streets and Central Park into an orange-y, leafy wonderland<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2017\" data-end=\"2083\">\n<p data-start=\"2019\" data-end=\"2083\">The weather is ideal for walking\u2014 crisp, cool and cozy without being uncomfortably cold<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2084\" data-end=\"2157\">\n<p data-start=\"2086\" data-end=\"2157\">Halloween decorations take over the city and there is Pumpkin spice everything available!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2158\" data-end=\"2235\">\n<p data-start=\"2160\" data-end=\"2235\">If you&#8217;re there in late November you can celebrate Thanksgiving &#8211; and even watch the Macy&#8217;s Parade if you&#8217;re game<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2158\" data-end=\"2235\">Many of the Holiday markets open from late October so you can start to get the festive feel even if you&#8217;re not around at Christmas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2251\">\ud83c\udf9f <strong data-start=\"2240\" data-end=\"2250\">Sports<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2252\" data-end=\"2349\">\n<li data-start=\"2252\" data-end=\"2283\">\n<p data-start=\"2254\" data-end=\"2283\">NFL returns (Giants &amp; Jets)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2284\" data-end=\"2305\">\n<p data-start=\"2286\" data-end=\"2305\">NHL season begins<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2306\" data-end=\"2349\">\n<p data-start=\"2308\" data-end=\"2349\">MLB playoffs (if Yankees or Mets are in!)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2351\" data-end=\"2422\">\ud83d\udcf8 Flights will be cheaper this season (outside of school holidays in Aus) but the City is very busy. Hotels are at a premium around Halloween and Thanksgiving (last Thursday of November)<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2351\" data-end=\"2422\">\n<p data-start=\"2351\" data-end=\"2422\">\n<p data-start=\"2351\" data-end=\"2422\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/takemetonyc.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Central-Park-Mall-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2429\" data-end=\"2469\"><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2429\" data-end=\"2469\"><strong data-start=\"2435\" data-end=\"2467\">Winter (December \u2013 February)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2470\" data-end=\"2517\">Magical, festive, and yes \u2014 cold. But worth it.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"2519\" data-end=\"2647\">\n<p data-start=\"2521\" data-end=\"2647\">December is <em data-start=\"2536\" data-end=\"2556\">next-level festive<\/em> with Christmas lights, ice skating, the Rockefeller Tree, and holiday markets. And don&#8217;t forget the Rockettes at Radio City &#8211; a New York Christmas institution.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2648\" data-end=\"2719\">\n<p data-start=\"2650\" data-end=\"2719\">Instead of chilling with a cold drink on a rooftop, indulge in a warming Hot Chocolate in a cosy bar<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2720\" data-end=\"2810\">\n<p data-start=\"2722\" data-end=\"2810\">February is the quietest and cheapest time to visit \u2014 but be prepared for the cold. Last February when I was there\u00a0 it was <strong>-16C<\/strong> &#8211; that&#8217;s COOOLLLLD. Bonus is it&#8217;s most likely to snow in Feb and that was magical enough to override the freezing temperatures. Nothing stops just because it snows! Everyone still needs to go to work and all your iconic landmarks and tours are still operating<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2720\" data-end=\"2810\">Prepare with the right shoes. You&#8217;ll want waterproof and non slip shoes as it can get slushy and slippery very quickly especially if there&#8217;s sleet or snow<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2812\" data-end=\"2926\">\ud83d\udd25\u00a0 \u00a0Pop on an extra layer and do all your walking, all those steps will warm you up no problem. THE. TIME.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"215\" data-end=\"272\">New York never stops and each season brings its own unique energy, events\u00a0 and experiences.
